The National Peace Council is set to bring together leaders of the two main political parties in the country to agree to a pact to ensure peace, days to the election day.
Chairman of the Council, Dr Ernest Adu Gyamfi told JoyNews on Thursday that the pact, will among other things, see President Akufo-Addo and the Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama agree to seek redress through the judicial process in the event of any electoral dispute.
They are also expected to work towards eradicating vigilantism at the programme dubbed 'The 3rd High Level Meeting on the Presidential Elections Peace Pact 2020.'
The event which is currently underway at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra will be moderated by the Executive Director of the Ark Foundation and Member of the Civic Forum Initiative, Dr Angela Dwamena-Aboagye.
Also present at the ceremony are the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II, Executive Director, of Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG) Dr Emmanuel Akwetey among others.
Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa and former Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf also graced the occasion.
