Six playeen banned and fined by Football Federation Australia for ers have bbetting on a Brisbane pre-season soccer match.
Four Brisbane Olympic FC players and two from Rochedale Rovers were found to have breached the national code of conduct by placing a number of bets on a match involving the two teams in February.
One of the Olympic FC players and both Rovers players did not participate in the match.
Each player was suspended for four matches and fined between $200 and $1000.
"The FFA was contacted by a betting agency regarding information it held on betting activity on a match by a group of players from the two clubs," said FFA's Jo Setright.
"While this is not a case of match-fixing, all six individuals were in clear breach of the code prohibiting betting on matches and have been sanctioned.
"This incident shows that FFA's detection methods work and FFA will enforce the code through our rigorous integrity measures."
