Anthony Martial opening the scoring just before the half-hour mark with a fine finish after being picked out by Marcus Rashford.
Wolves looked much-improved after the break and leveled thanks to Neves' curler in the 55th minute.
Pogba then spurned the chance to put United back ahead, seeing his penalty saved by Rui Patricio after being fouled by Conor Coady.
