Sixty-three suspected armed robbers who operate within the Cape Coast municipality and its surrounding areas have been rounded up by the police in the Central Region.
Joy FM’s Central Regional correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko said the suspected robbers have gained notoriety for snatching handbags, mobile phones, and among others, using guns to terrorize market women and residents.
He said an identification parade has been scheduled for Friday in Cape Coast.
Meanwhile the suspects are being kept at the various police stations in the municipality for tomorrow’s exercise.
In a related development, the police service has strongly defended its statistics which show a reduction in crime in Accra, following reports of increased armed robberies and killings in the capital.
But some residents say they are living in fear and question the statistics of the police.
