The Greater Accra Police Department has announced its commitment to keep the public safe during the ongoing load-shedding exercises.
The statement follows reports that burglars have been robbing houses under the cover of darkness when the lights go off.
Regional Public Relations Officer DSP Freeman Tetteh also urged citizens to protect themselves by calling the police to report any suspicious activity.
He added that people need to take their safety into their own hands through extra precautionary measures. He suggested people should buy generators to power their lights as measures to deter burglars during outages.
