Police at Tumu in the Upper West Region have killed one robber and injured two others during a gun battle on the Tumu-Navrongo highway on Friday night.
The three robbers are among a gang that stopped vehicles travelling on the highway and robbed passengers of their belongings.
District Police Commander for Tumu ASP William Ayensu Asare confirmed the incident to Joy News.
He said one of the robbers died during the gun battle but the two others managed to escape.
He added that the two injured robbers might have drowned in River Sissili which is between Upper East and West in an attempt to escape from the police
“We are not certain whether they were able to swim or they drowned”, he added.
