Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo has said that he is in talks with the Inspector General of Police to beef up security in Kubekro and its environs.
This follows the murder of a 7-year-old girl a fortnight ago which sent shockwaves through the Kpone Katamanso Constituency.
Youth in the area yesterday demonstrated to register their displeasure over the incident, and other child disappearances in the area. The angry youth were concerned for the safety of children in the area and bemoaned that parents now panic whenever they have to leave their homes for work.
“Our innocent children are not safe” the group said, while expressing their dissatisfaction with the seeming reluctance of police to arrest alleged accomplices of the murder suspect currently in custody.
They called on the President to come to their aid before residents are forced to take matters in their own hands.

Meanwhile, MP for the area who doubles as Greater Accra regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, who sympathises with the residents says there is only so much that the police can do.
He called for patience from the residents, while the police conduct their investigations, saying, “In some of these situations, you have to allow the police to do their work.”
The Minister revealed that he has spoken to the IGP to increase police patrols in the area but that may not be enough as “the men and women [police] we have can never protect every Ghanaian at the same time”.
As an added measure, the Minister called for residents to always be on the alert and to form watchdog committees to ward of miscreants in the area.
