Youth Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party says while they are embarrassed by the unfortunate actions of pro-vigilante groups they cannot take lessons from members of the opposition NDC.

Sammy Awuku says the National Democratic Congress cannot be more catholic than the pope in what has become a culture of impunity by the vigilante groups in the country.

He was reacting to comments by the chairman of the National Democratic Congress Kofi Portuphy who sent the NPP to the cleaners during a press conference held at the party's head quarters Wednesday.

Portuphy accused president Nana Akufo-Addo of being complicit in the lawless actions of the Delta and Invincible Forces who have held the country hostage over the last few weeks.

He described as "shambolic and theatrical" a Ȼ2,400 fine slapped on each of the 13 members of the Delta Force who broke court custody but returned later to face charges.

They were being prosecuted for attacking and sacking from office the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator George Agyei.

Kofi Portuphy said the demeanour of the president in the face of the court attack is just as shambolic as the Ȼ2,400 fine.

But in a reaction, the Youth Organiser of the NPP Sammy Awuku said the NDC is religiously sticking to the "operational manual that led to the party's defeat in 2016."

He said unlike the NDC government whose ministers lined up, signing petitions in the infamous Montie 3 scandal  and put pressure on the president, who then went ahead to reverse a decision by the Supreme Court, the Nana Akufo-Addo government has not shown any sign of approval of the lawless acts of the Delta Force.

"Since the incident happened, the president has condemned it and said the rule of law must work. We have not lined up ministers to sign up books.  The NPP condemned the attacks at the court and is committed as a party to let due process work," he said.

"We cannot condone any act of lawlessness. If you fall foul of the law, the rule of law will work," he said.

Citing a police report in the Talensi by-election which was riddled with violence, Awuku said the NDC chair who is now "pontificating," and leading a religious lesson on peace was the man cited as having AK 47 in his car and fomenting trouble in the area.

"We will not allow the NDC to pontificate and claim to be more Arch bishop than the Arch bishop of Canterbury," he said.

He challenged the NDC chair to produce the killers of NPP supporters in Agbogbloshie in 2009 and several other culprits, including the Azorka boys who rained terror on the people during the reign of the NDC.

He said the NPP will not engage in any politics of equalization. If one falls foul of the law, they will be held to account.

But the National Organiser of the NDC Kofi Adams says the NPP cannot compare the Montie 3 scenario to that of the Delta Force attack of the courts.

He said if the president had shown enough vigor, perhaps the Ȼ2,400 fine handed the Delta Force members would have stiffer.
