Pork festival ends with high expectations

A three-day pork festival aimed at boosting the fortunes of pork farmers and traders ended Saturday. Though attendance on the first day was not very good, organizers hoped more people would take advantage of the weekend to patronize the variety of pork products on display. The show follows the discovery of the H1N1 or swine flu, virus which became a global scare and damaged the popularity of pork products. Pig farmers such as the Chief of Kaneshie, Nii Neequaye Ashaley, expressed hope the event would restore pork to its former popularity among Ghanaians. “We want to tell the public that there is no way that you can get swine flu…from eating pork,” Nii Ashaley said, adding, that perception is wrong.
