The Accra Regional Police Commander DCOP Christian Yohonu has implored victims of armed robbery attacks to quickly alert the police before calling on God for assistance.

While admitting that prayers are good, he was quick to add that victims must first call the police emergency lines on 0302773906 and toll free no.:18555,191 before resorting to prayers.

During armed attacks "when the people in the neighbouring house have to call the police then they start praying. Prayer is good but all we need is that the neighbor who is not under attack should quickly give the information,” he implored.

The Regional Police Commander made the comments in an interview with Joy News shortly after six suspected armed robbers were picked up, Monday.

The suspects were alleged to be behind the gruesome murders of the UK Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Hayford Akrofi and one Prophetess Agnes Koomson all in Accra.

The suspects are believed to be operating in Accra and in Cape Coast. Two of them are said to be on the run with the police mounting a hunt for them.

DCOP Christian Yohonu called for the formation of neighbourhood committees to complement the effort of the police in fighting crime.

According to the Police Commander, they have picked up intelligence information suggesting that some armed robbers are now using commercial vehicles, including 'tro-tro' for their nefarious acts.

He therefore urged the public, especially drivers and commuters to exercise patience whenever they are searched by police patrol teams at the various check points.

DCOP Yohonu lamented what he said is the paucity of information to fight crime.

“We have all our men on the ground, we have the snap checks in operation, we have visibility points and then we have the patrol team.

“In every community we have saturated everywhere with police presence, all that we need is information”, DCOP Yohonu declared.
