The Presbyterian Church is urging the government to come up with national youth entrepreneurship policy to curb the high rate of employment.
Clerk of General Assembly, Reverend Dr. Samuel Ayete-Nyampong, says such a policy will help address the many impediments in youth enterprise development.
“The policy will be cardinal in solving youth unemployment in the country,” he said.
He was speaking at the 2017 edition of Presbyterian Youth and Students Assembly in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.
Rev. Dr. Ayete-Nyampong says a multi-sectoral approach to such policy would empower graduates and other youth to start their own businesses.
He is worried, many Ghanaians have fallen prey to fake gospel perpetuated by some ministers of the gospel.
Reverend Dr. Anyete-Nyampong wants the youth to resist such attempts to manipulate them.
They see nothing in repentance. For them, "everything is money, money, money".
“They sell holy water, Holy oil, Holy incense and what have you to their gullible followers and they have nothing in common with the Apostolic Church,” he said.
The five-day meeting was under the theme: "Empowered to Influence our Generation".
Alfred Appiah is Chairperson of the Committee on Youth Ministry to the 6thPresbyterian Youth and Students Assembly 2017.
He charged the youth to support the government in its fight against illegal mining or galamsey.
“We call ourselves Christians but we have no respect for the environment. We destroy the environment through illegal mining, deforestation, sand winning and improper waste disposal,” he admonished.
“We must join hands with government to fight against galamsey” he added.
