President John Evans Atta Mills has sworn-in 10 new ministers whose nominations have been approved by Parliament.
They are Dr. Kwabena Duffour, Minister for Finance and Economic Planning; Alex Tettey-Enyo, Education; Akua Sena Dansua, Women & Children’s Affairs; Dr. Oteng Adjei, Energy and Cletus Avoka, Interior.
The rest are Mrs Juliana Azumah-Mensah, Tourism; Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Minister for Local Government & Rural Development; Collins Dauda, Lands & Natural Resources; Joe Gidisu, Roads & Highways and Mike Hammah, Transport.
Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Minister for Justice and Attorney-General, also approved by the house, was however missing in action and was later reported to have returned to her London-based Commonwealth Secretariat perhaps to disengage from her duties with the organisation.
The Ministers swore three oaths, of office, of allegiance and of secrecy.
“President Mills said that he swore them in only a few hours after their names were passed by Parliament to indicate to the general public and the electorate who brought them into power that they are ready to hit the ground running,” Joy correspondent Steve Anti reported.
President Mills urged the new ministers to be modest and honest in the discharge of their duties.
