President John Evans Atta Mills has urged Ghanaians to bury their political differences and unite as one people to support Government's initiated projects, to enhance total development of the country. He said with the general elections over, it was time for Ghanaians to co-operate and support government's policies and programmes, aimed at improving the living standard of the people. President Mills said this when he addressed the chiefs and people of the Kwahu Traditional Area at Mpraeso on Friday, as part of his three- day visit to the Eastern Region. He commended the chiefs and people in the area for ensuring peace during last year's general elections. The President said the government had initiated pragmatic programmes for the rapid development of the country, and hoped Ghanaians would return it into power at the end of its four- year term. The Omanhene of the Kwahu Traditional Area, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng II, in an address read on his behalf, appealed to government to complete the construction of the 12- kilometre road to the Kwahu Ridge, as well as the rehabilitation of the Mpraeso town roads and others in the area, to facilitate the movement of goods and services from the area and the Afram Plains to the marketing centres. He also appealed to the government to replace the obsolete equipment and machines of the Kwahu water works at Kotoso to ensure uninterrupted portable water supply to communities on the Kwahu ridge. Daasebre Boateng urged the government to assist the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to rehabilitate its old equipment in the area to improve television reception in the communities. The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Ofosu- Ampofo, said the government had put in place effective measures to improve the road net work and agriculture production in the Kwahu North District, which is the food basket of the country.
