Ghana’s female quartet team of Janet Amponsah, Beatrice Gyaman, Elizabeth Amolofo and Rosina Amenegbede is the country’s prized athletics team following recent performances in major competitions. The female team is due to return home this weekend after winning silver at the commonwealth Games which draws to a close today. The recent performance follows a bronze medal success at the Africa championship in Kenya three months ago. President of Ghana athletics Professor Doudu is hopeful of a continuous rise in athletics after the resurgence. South Africa is the only top ranked African country on the medal table and are placed 5th with 33 medals behind powerhouses Australia, England, hosts India, and Canada.
