Berekum Chelsea face one of their toughest test since gaining promotion to the top division when they host five- time African champions Zamalek at the Accra sports stadium on Saturday in the opening round of matches in the CAF Champions league.Chelsea, playing in the continent’s prestigious club competition, sent strong signals about their credentials after eliminating Raja Casablanca and Coton Sport Garoua.Zamalek will miss Ahmed Hassan and Razak Omotoyosi due to suspension but will rely on legendary coach Hassan Shehata- who led Egypt to win three successive titles at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008, 2010.The Assistant coach of Zamalek Ismail Youssef Awadallah in an interview with JOY Sports noted that, they are determined to beat Chelsea despite lacking the requisite match fitness.“This game is very important because our progress in this tournament will depend on the outcome of this game”.“Zamalek is a big team with great players and a great coach (Hassan Shehata) and so we are here to win three points”.Chelsea gave their preparations a boost by coming from a goal down to beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko 2-1 last Sunday to lift the President cup.The Berekum based team will go into the game without inspirational captain Abdul Basit who is recovering from a malaria infection.Chelsea will travel to Lubumbashi to face TP Mazembe on July 21 after their opening fixture against Zamalek. And they will complete the first round with an away fixture against six-time winners Al Ahly in Cairo on August 3.
