As part of activities towards becoming the Flagbearer of the NDC for the 2020 general elections, Prof. Joshua Alabi has taken his campaign to the Northern Region of the country to meet party executives, elders, opinion leaders and traditional authorities.
The Prof. Joshua Alabi Campaign Team first made a stop over in the Akan, Nkwanta South and Nkwanta North Constituencies in the northern sector of the Volta Region for meetings with party faithful.
Upon entering the Northern Region, Prof. Joshua Alabi visited Wulensi, Bimbilla, Yendi, Zabzugu and Tatale-Sanguli constituencies. He also met and interacted with party officials in Saboba, Gushegu, Nanton and Savelugu. In addition, Prof. Joshua Alabi had meetings in constituencies such as Sagnerigu, Walewale, Nalerigu, Bunkpurugu and Yunyoo.
Apart from NDC party faithfuls, Prof. Joshua Alabi also paid courtesy calls on some Traditional Leaders and Chiefs in the Northern Region including the Regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Naa, Yakubu Abdulai Andani and the Paramount Chief of Mamprugu, Nayiri Naa Bohugu Mahami Abdulai. A number of other Chiefs also received Prof. Joshua Alabi in their palace, including the Sagnerigu Chief, Gukpe-Naa, Lamashegu Chief, Dakpema Chief, Kumbungu- Naa, Bunkpurugu Chief and the Chief of Yunyoo.
Prof. Joshua Alabi's campaign tour of the Northern Region has been a form of homecoming for him, since he grew up in Tamale and he was once Northern Regional Minister. It was refreshing and nostalgic for him to connect with old friends and colleagues who are now community leaders and party activists.
In consonance with Prof. Joshua Alabi's pledge to put the grassroots at the centre of the next NDC government, he met with Constituency and Branch Executives in town hall meetings to emphasize on his message and plan of returning the NDC to power in the 2020 elections.
As a result of the fact that his message resonated with the grassroots of the party, the candidacy of Prof. Joshua Alabi received massive endorsements from opinion leaders, elders of the party in the Northern Region as well as Branch and Constituency Executives whom he has visited so far, with a firm pledge to work hard in order to make him the Presidential Candidate of the NDC for the 2020 general elections.
Prof. Joshua will continue his tour of the Northern Region and touch base with the grassroots of the party over the next few days.
