For the first time in Ghana, children will have the rare opportunity of a platform to learn using recreation and modern ICT facilities when the PUMPKINS Kids Day-out comes off at the Plaice Event Centre in Accra on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
The event will be under the auspices of PUMPKINS Company Limited, a child-focused organization with support from a number of donors including mobile phone network giant, MTN and the Alisa Hotels.
Speaking at a ceremony to launch the event in Accra, Media Liason Officer for Pumpkins, Nana Yaa Danquah said the event seeks to create a recreational environment for children to learn while promoting their health, wellbeing and the family system.
“It is part of a broader strategy to assist government’s measures to improve falling academic performance especially at the pre-senior high school level and to promote child literacy in consonance with targets sets in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)”, said Nana Yaa Danquah.
She said several personalities including TV3’s anchors Nana Aba Anamoah, Roland Walker, Baisiwa Dowuona-Hammond; Joy fm’s Bola Ray and musician, Okyeame Kwame have signed on to the event as PUMPKINS Ambassadors for Kids.
