Relatives of the 19-year-old rape victim have expressed displeasure at the 30-year jail sentence meted on the rapist.
According to the family the sentence is too lenient.
Eric Adjei Bawuah attacked and raped the 19-year-old girl in public after her sister had seen her off to the Asafo Market lorry station in Kumasi to board a car to Accra.
In an interview with Nhyira FM's Ohemeng Tawiah, a sister of the rape victim noted that the family was not happy about the sentence due to the great harm the rapist has caused her sister.
“We are not happy about the sentence”, she said.
As she narrated, the victim has since the day of the rape been experiencing sleepless nights, bleeding in the vagina, abdominal pains and getting her clothes soaked with blood all the time.
“He has ruined my sister’s life. I would have wished a harsher punishment than this,” she added.
