The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako, says Rawlings is being unfair to the Mills government due to his public accusation of the President of encouraging corruption in the party system.
According to him, if the ex-president and founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has something to complain about there is nothing wrong with it, but the platform he uses is what he (Baako) personally deem wrong.
Ex-president Rawlings has been the major critic of the Mills administration since it assumed office in 2009.
The President as well as his ministers have been evading suggestions that the ex-president’s criticisms is not distracting the government or are unfair in any way, absolving his criticism as internal democracy.
Mr Baako noted that if as founder, Mr Rawlings sees that “there is a problem with the baby, he must cure it of its ailments but the methods and platform he has adopted is what" poses the problem.
“Assuming the president told you certain things, he goes out there to disclose it. But you see, he is charging, not criticising. He is telling this country that this government is corrupting the party system. He is making allegations, he’s accusing them and that is not fair,” he told Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana programme host Shamima Moslem.
The editor-in-chief pointed out that part of Mr Rawlings problem is his refusal to realize that “his time in terms of exercising constitutional, political authority is gone” and that it is not his business “to dictate who becomes minister A or B.
He advised the ex-president to be grateful to God that at least his party is the one in charge of determining who becomes a minister.
Mr Baako was, however, optimistic that the NDC national delegates’ conference to be held in Tamale on Saturday would be peaceful.
