On the occasion of Eid ul Fitr which falls today, Nana and I wish to congratulate the muslim community for dedicating themselves to a month-long period of fasting culminating in today’s celebration.
The fasting period accords individuals the opportunity to renew their spiritual strength and pray for the positive good of mankind.
In Ghana we are faced with major socio-economic and socio-political problems that require every Ghanaian to put his energies together to resolve.
As we conclude the fasting period and offer the traditional concluding prayer (salaat), we enjoin all muslims to offer prayers for the good of our dear country, pray for Allah’s blessing so we can confront the challenges that Ghana faces and seek direction for a positive future.
Let us pause for a moment of prayer for the peoples of all countries who are facing severe challenges. Let us pray for peace, stability, economic and political sustenance for these countries.
But more importantly our dear muslim brothers and sisters, let us celebrate the Eid with fanfare, endeavouring to uphold the religious ideals we projected over the past month.
Once Eid ul Fitr is over let us sustain the strong prayers for our dear country and the entire world so we can do away with the discord that threatens to engulf us.
