The FIFA referee William Agbovi believes his penalty decision in favour of Hearts of Oak was perfect as some fans rage over the controversial decision.
William Agbovi has stated that he is blameless concerning the penalty call he made against the Porcupine Warriors on Sunday
Hearts of Oak needed a late penalty to secure the equalizer against Kumasi Asante Kotoko in 2 leg of the special friendly dubbed Super 2.
Although many people think the penalty was a controversial one, the centre referee for the game believes he made the right decision.
“I am very happy that a station replayed the penalty I awarded against Kotoko and some of my bosses called me that they watched it and it was a right call.
“I really know the penalty was a correct one. I don’t take penalties anyhow; when I award them it means I am 100% sure.”
Kotoko were on their way to securing a home and away victories against their bitterest rivals, following a 2-0 win on last week Monday and also took a first half lead in Accra on Sunday, courtesy a Frank Sarfo Gyamfi’s goal, however Agbovi’s decision to award Hearts a penalty gave them the equalizer in the 87 minute through Robin Gnagne.
