Some of the finest reggae artistes are billed to perform at the maiden Sunsplash concert in Ghana this Friday, December 23 at the Xplo G, West Legon, Accra.
Lovers of the music genre will be treated to the best of performances by Wanlov da Kubolor, Oga Chux, Afrikan baby, Azizaa, Yasmeen, Buddaman, JaHWi, Funky Boi, Kojo Kumbolo and others.
Ghanaians are among other nationals in Africa and beyond who enjoy reggae as a pass time.
The chanting and jamming sounds of reggae are heard daily on the radio and the rhythms of reggae have influenced gospel music a great deal.
But what is perhaps missing on the cultural scene is a Reggae Festival for a Country that boasts of several international reggae acts, some of who have made the motherland proud on the global music scene.
Sunsplash Ghana is a reggae festival planned to grow into a three day event in the next two years to become a world class reggae attraction.
Organizers say the Festival will comprise of a workshop, art exhibition on selected annual themes as well as a live show.
The maiden edition of Sunsplash Ghana is aimed at showcasing to the general public and reggae lovers, talents that have been nurtured on the shores of Ghana and others who have honed their skills beyond the waters but still have strong connections to their birthplace.
A line up comprising the next generation of world class talents would be churning out conscious music at the Sunsplash.
