The Synod Moderator of the central-western Presbytery, Rev Dr Lawson Kwaku Dzanku, has been elected as the next clerk of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana.
The lecturer whose got two degrees and a PhD would assume office when the tenure of the current clerk expires in December 2021.
After unveiling two nominees to compete for the position of clerk of the General Assembly of the EP Church, Dr Beniamah respectfully declined her nomination due to her recent senior-level appointment by the University of Ghana Council.
The General assembly, therefore, nominated Synod Moderator of the central-western Presbytery, Rev. Dr. Lawson Kwaku Dzanku who was eventually endorsed to serve as the next clerk of the General Assembly.
Dr. Dzanku appealed for the support of the General Assembly in carrying out the mandated duties of his newly elected office.
“I hope that with your prayer and support and God willing, I will be able to deliver as required of me”, he said.
The moderator of the General Assembly of the EP Church, Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko, explained the extraordinary General Assembly was conveyed to also amend Article 30 (1D) of the Church’s constitution.
He said the article had to be amended to enable Minister with intense knowledge and experience to assume Synod Moderators and Moderator of toys General Assembly.
“We had to reverse to the old age bracket, that is not less than 45 and not more than 64 years. By so doing we are still able to get very experience Ministers to man our various Presbyteries and also be able to take the challenge of bearing the office of either clerk or Moderator of the General Assembly.”
Lawyer Dick Kwame Anyadi and Presbyter Joy Delali Setorwu Amegbe were also elected to serve on the Non-Standing Committee of Trustees to manage the estates of the Church.
