Ex-Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Kingson has offered some words of advice to the growing Ghana contingent in the English Premier League.
Defender Baba Rahman’s move to Chelsea increases the Ghanaian presence in the English top flight to a record six regular international players - Jordan Ayew (Aston Villa), Christian Atsu (Bournemouth), Kwesi Appiah (Crystal Palace), Jeffrey Schlupp (Leicester City), and Andre Ayew (Swansea City).
Kingson, 37, who featured for Birmingham City, Wigan Athletic and Blackpool between 2007 and 2011 has urged his countrymen to work hard but warned them to be ready to handle pressure from the scrutiny of the English press.
“The Premier League is a physical and a mental game. They (Ghanaian players) should tune their mind and be very strong by working hard, because hard work pays.
“They all good players, but things that will help them are hard work and concentration. The English press can write something that could discourage them, if you are not careful. But if they focus on what they want to do and also work hard they can make it,” he said in an interview with Kasapa FM in Accra.
Kingson after many years of sojourn in Europe is back in Ghana playing for boyhood club Great Olympics in the Ghanaian top division.
