Forty-two students from the RisingSun Montessori Schools have excelled at the 13th Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) National Competition.
UCMAS is a unique and scientifically-proven mental development programme designed for students to develop their latent mental power using the abacus as the tool, arithmetic as the evaluation process and kinesthetic learning as the methodology.
The students who displayed incredible academic prowess and competitive brilliance, amidst the intense competition went home with trophies and medals.
A total of 67 students were drawn from RisingSun Montessori Schools branches thus New Bortianor, Dome, and Lashibi out of which 42 excelled at the contest.
Ultimately, Maame Korang Ansah-Oboubi, from the New Bortianor, Dome, won the top most awards; UCMAS World and National Champion with Loyd Kenson Lamptey emerging as the First Runner-Up.
The competition which had over 1000 students representing across all regions was held at the Pentecostal Convention Centre.
The 42 students excelled in categories such as Elementary A category, basic category, direct category, and Small friend category and were awarded trophies and medals.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Director of the RisingSun Montessori Schools, Patrick Acheampong said, that the outstanding success of our students reflects their relentless dedication and the steadfast support of our educators and community.
“We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and deeply grateful for the collaborative effort that made this possible," he stated.
He continued, “The resounding success of RisingSun Montessori Schools at the UCMAS National Competition stands as a shining example of educational excellence and competitive success. As the school community celebrates this monumental achievement, the future gleams brightly for these young scholars.
On her part, Maame Korang Ansah-Oboubi shared her excitement: "Winning at both the national and world levels is a dream come true. I am profoundly grateful for the support from my teachers and family, whose encouragement has been crucial in this journey."
Furthermore, the Coordinator of UCMAS Ghana Limited, Roger Ohemeng commended RisingSun Montessori Schools for their remarkable achievement.
"RisingSun Montessori Schools have set an unparalleled standard of excellence. Their exceptional performance at the national competition underscores their commitment to academic brilliance and the extraordinary capabilities of their students," he said.
