Ghanaian and international reggae star, Rocky Dawuni is set to stage his annual Independence Splash on March 19 at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
The Independence Splash 2011, which will be his second after a similar performance in 2008, will herald what has already been a successful year after receiving several nominations in several music awards across the world from his Hymns of the Rebel Soul album.
Hymns of the Rebel Soul released last year among others received a nomination in the prestigious National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Award for Outstanding World Music Album.
NAACP is cross discipline honors aimed at honoring outstanding people of color in film, television, music, and literature.
It will also serve as a unique platform to bring attention and spread information on the dilapidating effects of guinea worm in the country.
Rocky added that, total eradication of the pandemic has almost been achieved and the concert is going to be a part of the final push to enable us put it behind us forever.
Several music acts will grace the Independence Splash. The list includes guitarist Ackah Blay and his Abiza band, the Barack Obama hit singer, Blakk Rasta, of Hitz FM and Sherriff Ghale, George Cliff and KKC.
Rocky Dawuni is also slated to perform at the Hollywood Bowl with Stevie Wonder and Tonight Show's Rickey Minor at the KCRW World Festival on July 24.
