Ricardo Teixeira, the president of the Brazilian Football Association [CBF], affirmed that Ronaldo, who plays for Corinthians, will have his place in the national team as long as he is "in form, like in 2002."
Teixeira told the press that "Ronaldo is always in the plans [of the national team], as long as he is in the same form as in 2002, when he starred in the World Cup," which Brazil won in Japan/South Korea.
He continued, "If he returns to being like before, he will be the first to return" to the Selecao.
Ronaldo returned to action with Corinthians ten days ago, after being on the sidelines for more than two months after fracturing his left hand.
On Sunday Ronaldo scored Corinthians' only goal as they drew 1-1 with rivals Sao Paulo in the Paulista derby at the Morumbi stadium.
Despite being active during the game, it was evident that Ronaldo wasn't in his best physical form and will need time to return to his best.
In eleven matches this season Ronaldo has scored seven goals, many of which were superb trademark finishes.
