Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central has climax their 25th anniversary with a fund raising gala in aid of the expansion of their primary school project at Asempaneye near Koforidua in the Akwapim North District in the Eastern Region.
The club has built and furnished a six unit primary school block, a four seater KVIP and a bore hole for the community.
As part of activities to mark the day, members of the club together with the chief and people of Asempaneye inspected the completed projects.
The charter President, Victor Yaw Asante who addressed the media during the familiarization tour was happy the club has been able to improve the educational standards in the community.
He added that due to the positive feedback from the people, the club would continue with the provision of school uniforms, bags, books and other learning material as a form of incentives for children to make school going very attractive to the children.
Mr. Asante added that the Ring Road Central Rotary Club would run a literacy programme for children in Asemapaneye and surrounding communities as part of their community service to the country.
He was optimistic that after the completion of the new 3 unit classroom block under construction, access to education in Asempanye and surrounding communities would improve.
The charter President thanked the Rotary Club in Denmark, Holland, USA and the MTN Ghana for their continuous support to the club to undertake the projects.
The Chief of Asempaneye, Nana Ampem Darko expressed gratitude to the Ring Road Central Rotary Club for making schooling attractive and accessible to the children in the community.
He revealed that enrollment into the primary school has increase from 36 to 120 pupils after the old dilapidated structure which served as a primary school was replaced with a new one built by the Rotary Club.
Nana Ampem Darko prayed the club to consider including a Junior High School (JHS) to their school project so that the children in Asempaneye will no longer travel long distances to surrounding communities like Tinkong or Konko to continue with their education.
