The Nzema East Municipal Police Command has mounted a search for a hit-and-run driver, who knocked down a motor rider and his pillion rider at Bobrama near Kikim, killing one instantly and the other dying later at a hospital.
The police commander of the area, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dan Ohene-Djan, told the Ghana News Agency at Axim on Tuesday that the incident happened Sunday, September 7, 2008.
He gave the name of one of the deceased as Mr Kwame Boateng, 35 from Axim, while the other person’s identity is yet to be known.
ASP Ohene-Djan said reports reaching the command indicated that the runaway driver was coming from Half-Assini towards Takoradi when the accident occurred.
He said the two bodies have been deposited at the Axim Government morgue for autopsy and the police have intensified their search for the arrest of the driver.
