Lawyer for the renowned Hip-life/Hip-pop artist, Michael Owusu Addo popularly known as Sarkodie has apologised on behalf of the artist over his Afrocentric goof.

Moses Foh- Amoani told Adom News that Sarkodie’s comment was born out of anger. The apology follows criticisms by some stakeholders in the entertainment industry following what they claim to be derogatory comments about Afrocentrism in his latest song, Kanta.

The whole controversy started when M.anifest released a song titled ‘GodMC’ and the lyrics seemed to launch direct attacks on Sarkodie for his latest song, ‘Bossy’ in which Sarkodie touted himself as the King of Rap in Ghana.

Sarkodie, however, landed a reprisal attack on M.anifest in his new song ‘Kanta’.

In the song, Sarkodie wondered how M.anifest who is claiming to be Afrocentric would make a "kaba" (dress meant for ladies) out of a GTP cloth.

But his comment did not go down well with some entertainment industry players who also descended heavily on SarkCess Music Record Label owner.

One of such persons is music producer and celebrity reality show judge, Mark Okraku Mantey who believes that Sarkodie shot himself in the foot by making such remarks about Afrocentrism because the twi rap he does is also Afrocentric.

He has also accused Sarkodie of showing gross disrespect to users of African clothing.

"He is trying to tell us that those who use African clothing are the poor in society and that is not fair. No No No, we do not talk like that to your people. He has insulted people like my boss, Kwasi Twum (Media Mogul and owner of Multimedia Group Limited), Pastor Mensa Otabil (Founder of the International Central Gospel Church, ICGC) and the flagbearer of the Progressive Peoples Party, PPP, Dr Paa Kwasi Ndoum among other prominent Ghanaians who patronise locally made clothing," the controversial entertainment pundit lamented.

But Moses Foh Amoaning in a response said people are blowing the whole issue out of proportion.

"I think that Mark Okraku Mantey wants to take this thing too far. We all know that so unlike Sarkodie to deliberately cast a slur on users of African prints but all the same I apologise on behalf of Sarkodie and his family to the good people of Ghana who were offended by his comment to forgive him'’ he pleaded.
