The Dankare Be Lembu youth group in the Savannah Region has presented a petition to the Gonja Traditional Council through its president, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, demanding the immediate removal of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs' registrar, Abutu Kapori for his alleged involvement in the missing funds from charcoal revenue among other allegations of corruption.

They also appealed to the Yagbonwura to investigate the said missing charcoal proceeds to fish out his alleged collaborators.

The youth, first went on a peaceful demonstration through some principal streets of Damongo in the West Gonja Municipality holding placards which said, ‘Savannah Regional House of Chiefs' Registrar must go’, ‘we won't need any criminal as Registrar’ and ‘Yagbon is bigger than Kapori and his cabal’ among others.

They later gathered at the offices of the Gonja Traditional Council where they addressed the media

During his address, the Vice President of Dankare Be Lembu, Abdul Fatawu Musah said if the administration of justice must work in the region then the registrar must be removed.

"The swift and unequivocal removal of Abutu Kapori from his position as the registrar of the Gonja Traditional Council and the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs is a crucial step in restoring public trust and in ensuring the impartial and effective functioning of the institutions," Abdul Fatawu Musah stated.

He spelled out the duties and responsibilities of a House of Chiefs’ registrar which he said among the filing of documents and writing of letters, "our registrar for the past eight years has been working outside his job schedule. That is Mr. Abutu Kapori crosses the boundaries of the registrar's office into illegal dealings, using the office with impunity."

"The job description of the registrar (Abutu Kapori) explicitly prohibits the use of his position for personal business and dealings. Yet, it has come to our attention that Abutu Kapori has shamelessly exploited his office for personal gains, flagrant disregarding his responsibilities as a public servant.

The audacious misconduct sits at the core of our democratic principles and undermines the trust the public has placed in the registrar's office," the vice president of the group insisted.

The statement further alleged among others that a brazen misappropriation of public funds, sales of lands, and the registrar's deep involvement in issues of chieftaincy racketeering and sales are among their appeal for his removal.

The petition was later presented to the Jakpa's palace for action to be taken on it.

But when JoyNews reached out to the registrar, Abutu Kapori for his response, he declined to comment but said he would surely vindicate himself at the appropriate hour.
