Ghanaian workers at Schlumberger, an oil service provider are angry over "unacceptable disparities" in conditions of service between the local contingent and expatriate staff.
The demonstration staged on the company premises at Apremdo near Takoradi has entered its second day as the workers continue to push for an end to these disparities.
The workers allege, the locals receive low remuneration and are considered by the foreigners as cheap.
This is the second time the workers are on strike this year after they embarked on the same action in January this year.
Joy News reporter Kwaku Owusu Peprah reports the annual rent allowance for a local staff on grade 10 is Gh¢2,100, their expatriate colleagues collect $117,000.
The Deputy Union Chairman, Roland Norkye said management has failed to sign a draft Collective Bargaining Agreement, an issue which has dragged on for months.
They also say management of the company has refused to implement Labour Laws on overtime and general local employment practices.
Management has so far refused to comment on the issue.
