A Magistrate’s Court in Sekondi, has remanded two scrap dealers, Kojo Badu, 36, and Egya Kwabena, 39, for stealing railway line metals at Essaman near Sekondi.
They pleaded not guilty to unlawful entry, causing damage and stealing spikes and sharks.
Police Sergeant Godwin Bawa told the court that on January 28, this year, at about 1330 hours, the complainant, Bismark Dupeh saw the scrap dealers removing spikes and sharks from the railway line between Essaman and Adiembra.
The prosecution said that when the complainant confronted them they managed to convince him that they were railway workers.
Sgt. Bawa said that when the complainant moments later spotted Badu and Kwabena carrying sacks containing spikes and sharks, he raised an alarm.
This attracted a crowd that arrested the accused persons and handed them over to the Police.
