Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Radio Silence's upcoming horror film Abigail, set to release on April 19.

The latest from filmmaking duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, Abigail follows a group of kidnappers who find out that they're in way over their heads when their target, a girl named Abigail, turns out to be a vampire.

The trailer gives fans enough of a preview to sink their teeth into the blood-filled vampire flick written by Stephen Shields and Guy Busick, with Matilda the Musical star Alisha Weir playing the titular terror.

As the trailer explains, Abigail is a young ballerina who arabesques and pirouettes right into the hands of her kidnappers-turned-babysitters, played by Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, William Catlett, Kevin Durand, and the late Angus Cloud.

The film marks one of Cloud's final on-screen performances following his death in July 2023 at 25 years old.

As the film's official logline reads, "Children can be such monsters. After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight.

In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they're locked inside with no normal little girl."

In the trailer, the kidnappers realize exactly who they're trapped with and they try to figure out the best way to kill the "ballerina vampire." "What are we talking about, like an Ann Rice or a True Blood? You know, Twilight?" asks Newton's character.

Although they team up to end Abigail before she gets them all, it quickly becomes clear that she's a terrifying force to reckon with. "What can I say," Weir quips in the trailer. "I like playing with my food."

Abigail is produced by William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and James Vanderbilt on behalf of Project X Entertainment. Tripp Vinson also produces in addition to Chad Vilella of Radio Silence. Ron Lynch and Macdara Kelleher serve as executive producers.

Abigail arrives in theatres on April 19.
