There are moves to get the chairman of the Confiscated Assets Committee, Karl Wilson, dismissed, Deputy Chief of Staff Alex Segbefia alleges.
Mr Segbefia says some persons calling for the removal from office of Mr Wilson are members of drug cartels whose business is threatened by the Confiscate Assets Committee chairman.
The Deputy Chief of Staff who said this in an interview with Joy News on Monday said most of the drug and money laundering profits are channeled through the stolen vehicle business.
Alex Segbefia dismissed suggestions that despite numerous allegations of corruption against the CAC chairman, Mr Wilson still holds his post.
At least three institutions have investigated Mr Wilson and have not found him culpable of any wrongdoing, Mr Segbefia said.
According to him, National Security, the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and authorities at the Ghana Ports and Habours have conducted separate investigations into such allegations but have found the corrupt man rather clean.
Mr Wilson has on several occasions been accused of secretly selling confiscated vehicles.
Meanwhile, Mr Segbefia’s comments follows another allegation by Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, that Mr Wilson has sold out 18 stolen motorbikes meant for repatriation to the UK.
