Shalina Healthcare, a prominent pharmaceutical company with a rich legacy spanning 39 years, has been at the forefront of providing high-quality healthcare products at affordable prices throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has mentioned in the 2022 World Malaria report that “Malaria-affected countries continue to respond to a host of challenges, including disruptions arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although hard hit, most countries held the line and were able to maintain services to prevent, detect and treat malaria - a remarkable feat in the midst of a pandemic. Nonetheless, more than 600,000 people still die of malaria every year – most of them children.”
He believes Malaria control is intimately tied to the overall health system. Investments in well-functioning, equitable and resilient health systems built on a foundation of primary health care are critical to a successful malaria response.
In response to this global health issue, Shalina Healthcare Ghana embraced the call by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to commemorate World Malaria Day in April 2023 and actively participated in a health walk organized by the National Malaria Elimination Program.
In line with this commitment, the company embarked on a free health screening (Market clinic) for market traders at Accra Rawlings Park and its surrounding areas.
During this screening, the company raised awareness of Malaria to more than 500 traders and residents who were tested for a range of health conditions, including Malaria.
This initiative reflects Shalina Healthcare's dedication to promoting the well-being of the local community by not only offering healthcare products but also actively engaging in health promotion and awareness efforts.
Recognising the importance of sustained awareness, Shalina Healthcare seized the opportunity once again to launch the highly anticipated 2nd edition of the "Shal'Artem Ghana Challenge."
The 2nd edition of the challenge commenced in August 2023 and the public was engaged to creatively demonstrate three favourite activities they could engage in after recovering from malaria with Shal'Artem.
At an event held at its corporate office in the North Industrial Area, Nagaraju Galipelli, the Marketing Manager, underscored the worrying statistics and emphasized the correct treatment with Shal’Artem following a positive diagnosis.
The event featured the esteemed presence of Aka Ebenezer, popularly known as Dr. Likee, the brand Ambassador for Shal'Artem.
Dr. Likee enthusiastically championed the Shal'Artem Ghana Challenge on behalf of Shalina Healthcare Ghana Ltd.
Speaking with the Country Manager, Mr. Amrit Pal Singh, he expressed, "We believe that through Dr. Likee's artistry, we can reach a wider audience.
This earned us the 'Campaign of the Year' recognition at the 2023 Ghana Pharma Awards. The success of the second edition is a testament to people's trust in our brand."
Several participants were lauded for their efforts in raising awareness about malaria and advocating for the correct treatment after a positive diagnosis.
They urged the public always to seek testing for malaria and to choose Shal'Artem when knocking out Malaria.
Shalina Healthcare Ghana's commitment to excellence and healthcare provision has not gone unnoticed.
The company was honoured as the "Best Healthcare Provider of the Year" in 2022 and Health and Wellness Company of the Year at the recent 2023 Ghana Pharma Awards.
Shalina Healthcare remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that patients and clients have access to top-quality medicines at affordable prices, readily available at their nearest retail and wholesale outlets.
