Shortage of cement in the Upper East region has hiked up the price of the commodity from 80,000 cedis to 105,000 cedis a bag hampering projects under construction in the region. Most of the contractors in Bolgatanga expressed worry about the situation and said it was affecting the execution of their work. A visit to most of the cement retail shops in the region were empty while and others were closed. Some of the retailers blamed the shortage of the commodity to the cut down in the supply of the product by Ghacem to the region.
