Ghanaian film maker, Leila Djansi has wrapped up shooting for her upcoming psychological drama, ‘Sinking Sands’.
The 6 week-shoot came to an end last Saturday, at a warehouse on the Spintex Road that was set up as the home of the lead characters and others. During the period of filming, Leila together with her local and foreign crew shot on location in Accra and Ho.
Sinking Sands is a story that dwells on the abuse of women in our societies today. The project is intended to create awareness on the continuous existence of abuse among today’s households. It is an effort to show a side of defense that is proactive.
Jimah and Pabi are a match made in heaven until that fatal accident which turns Jimah into a monster, literally. Endless days of wife battery become a part of their relationship.
Pabi has a chance to flee but her guilt makes her stay, hoping and praying that Jimah will change and life will go back to normal. Her fear of living alone without a family is a weakness Jimah knows she has and he makes every effort to capitalize on it. But how long will Pabi endure? At what cost will she buy her freedom.
‘Sinking Sands’ is a movie written and directed by award winning Ghanaian film maker, Leila M. Djansi and stars Haiti-born Hollywood star, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Ama K Abebrese, Doris Sackitey with cameo appearance by Akosua Agyapong, Chris Attoh, Amanda Jisseh, Afi Dzakpasu and others.
The film is set for release in Ghana in October, 2010.
