St. Peter’s Lutheran school-Madina, as part of activities to mark the 2025 Independence Anniversary celebration on Friday, March 21, embarked on a tour of the ultra-modern children's swimming pool at Royals Fun Fountain at Dodowa in the Dangbe District of the Greater Accra Region.
The event, part of the school’s recreational policy, saw about 80 children taking part.
The children had an exciting moment as the facility offered them an unlimited swimming experience.
The tour, which started from the historic Adomi Bridge at Atimpoku on the Volta Lake, provided an opportunity for the children to take pictures.

They were also briefed by the tour guide who conducted them around while their teachers told them the story behind the bridge.
From Adomi Bridge, they proceeded to the GWC Kpong Treatment Plant.
At the treatment centre, they visited various departments to familiarise themselves with the processes the water passes through before it is supplied to Ghanaians.

The children were educated on how their drinking water is treated and also saw water engineering system for the first time.
From the Kpone Water centre, they finally moved to the Royal Fun Fountain at Dodowa.

They were welcomed by the guards who took them through various swimming safety formalities to maintain high safety standards.
In an interview, the Executive Manager of the school Madam Edith Adjoa Adjapomaa Aboagye said her school is committed to the overall development of the children and therefor places a high premium on such activities.

She stressed that educational trips provide experiential learning opportunities, allowing pupils to explore and interact with new environments, cultures, and technologies adding, educational trips often involve multiple subjects, fostering connections between disciplines and promoting a more holistic understanding of topics learned.
She said such activity can be transformative and lead to personal growth, renewed curiosity, and a broader perspective on life.

According to her, some of the common social benefits include shared experiences that create lifelong memories, lasting bonds among school children and their teachers.
Explaining the health benefits children get when they swim in water slides, the CEO of the Royals Fun Fountain, Ernest Akyeampong, said swimming is an ideal activity that promotes the health of children of all fitness levels.
He further explained that swimming, especially with water slides, offers children numerous benefits, including improved physical health, enhanced cognitive skills, and boosted confidence, while also fostering water safety and social skills unlike ordinary swimming pools.

Mr Ernest Akyeampong stated that swimming engages various muscle groups, strengthening the core, back, arms, and legs, leading to improved strength, flexibility, and endurance.
He therefore invites schools and parents to bring their children to come and have fun while improving their health.
Water slides are a great source of joy for children and adults alike.
