State prosecutors Monday told the financial court hearing the judgment debt case involving Alfred Woyome and three others they are not ready to start the trial.Chief State Attorney Cynthia Lamptey asked for one month to enable the state to investigate the case.She told the court, the state does not even have a docket on the case.Mr. Woyome, Chief State Attorney Samuel Nerquaye Tetteh and his wife Gifty and a director at the legal department of the Finance Ministry, Paul Asimenu, have been charged with conspiracy to defraud and defrauding the state in the payment of a judgment debt of GHS51 million to Mr. Woyome.Joy News’ Sammy Darko, who was in court said the trial judge was obviously unhappy with the development because he had earlier indicated his desire to see a speedy trial of the matter.The judge, however, granted the prosecution three weeks instead of the four weeks asked for saying since both prosecution and defence attorney's agreed with the request for time, the court had no option but to grant the request.The case resumes on March 26.Still in court, and on the cocaine-turned baking soda case, the state has pleaded for two more weeks to enable it prepare witnesses to testify in narcotics related charge against DSP Gifty Tehoda.But her lawyers say the delay by the state confirms their suspicion that their client is only being persecuted.Mrs. Tehoda’s lawyer, E. A. Vorduagu told journalists they will file an application for the case to be struck out if the state comes with another excuse at the next hearing date - 19th of March.
