Polytechnic teachers have vowed to defy a directive to call off their strike and submit to arbitration.
The teachers who are protesting stalled negotiations for better service conditions say they have lost confidence in the Labor Commission which is asking them to end the strike to allow for arbitration to start.
At their last meeting with the Fair Wages Commission (FWC), they demanded immediate resumption of negotiations, but the commission said the strike must first be called off.
The Chief Executive of the Fair Wages Commission, George Smith Graham said all the Commission was doing was to enforce a ruling by the National Labour Commission that they have to go for compulsory arbitration.
He said the FWC has no choice but to comply with the Labour Commission’s ruling.
But POTAG President Godfred Abledu, has hinted his team will not comply.
He told Joy News they will rather take their case to President Mills.
