An Accra based Non Governmental Organization, Joy Pot Foundation, has donated a quantity of food and other items worth GH¢1,700 to the Tomo-Ni Orphanage Home in the Kwahu South District.
The food items included five bags of rice, tomato paste, maize, tins of milk, bars of key soap, sugar, cooking utensils, fruit drinks and toiletries as well as used clothing, a computer and its accessories.
Presenting the items, the Leader of the Foundation, Miss Abena Afedzie said members of the NGO were touched by the plight of the children at the Home and decided to donate the items to address some of their challenges.
He hoped the items would go a long way in helping the children in their education to become responsible adults and contribute towards the development of society.
She said the less privileged in society need the support of the public to enable them to live decent lives.
Receiving the items on behalf of the home, Mr George Affram, a representative of the Obomenghene, thanked the NGO for the donation and called on other NGOs and the well to do in the society to help solve the numerous challenges facing the home.
The Manager of the Orphanage, Mr Benjamin Amankwaah, appealed to other NGOs for financial assistance to enable the orphanage pay the school fees of two of the inmates, who had entered Senior High School.
