JoyFM’s flagship programme, the Super Morning Show (SMS) has made a donation to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital as part of the Multimedia Group Limited’s 25th Anniversary celebration.
With the hospital being close to the heart of the company and in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the team used the opportunity to present some items that will help cushion the facility that takes care of the mentally-challenged in the society.

Team members, Kojo Yankson, Wiston Amoah, Animwaa Anim-Addo as well as producer Sammy Odame made the presentation to management of the facility.
The team expressed gratitude to the authorities at the hospital and the various health workers for staying committed to their job during these hard times.

Host of the Show, Kojo Yankson assured management of the facility of the teams continues support.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Director of the Hospital, Dr, Pinaman Appau, a senior health official at the facility lauded the gesture by the team and the Multimedia brand. She said such donations go a long way to help the facility give better care to the inmates.

She also used the platform to urge other philanthropists and organizations to emulate the gesture by members of the Super Morning Show.
The psychiatric hospital which has not been spared by the coronavirus outbreak had about 110 people including staff being quarantined after a patient at the facility tested positive for the virus.

Director of Mental Health Authority, Dr Akwasi Osei who confirmed the case to JoyNews said those quarantined included 11 people who shared the same ward with the first confirmed case, a number of staff and people who were discovered in the hospital.
The ward has since been isolated and fumigated to prevent further spread of the virus.
