Information reaching Myjoyonline.com has it that a family member and close friends of the Member of Parliament-elect for Akwatia constituency, Dr. Kofi Asare, have been picked up by a joint police/military patrol team in Akwatia.
Even though earlier information suggested that the MP-elect was also picked up during the exercise, Dr. Asare confirmed to Joy FM’s Super Morning Show host, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, that he was not touched by the patrol team.
“I have not been picked up,” he stated and mentioned three of his supporters who were arrested.
Dr Asare gave the name of one Elder Tebi of the Church of Pentecost whom he described us his “right-hand man” and a man he usually pray together with.
The team also picked up one Ali, his nephew, and George Ntiamoah, an ardent supporter of Dr Asare.
He said some of the officers he identified told him that Elder Tebi was picked up for assaulting a teacher, but charges against the rest were not readily known.
