Bayern Munich laid down a marker ahead of the Bundesliga season after downing rivals Borussia Dortmund in the German Supercup.
Second-half goals from Arturo Vidal and Thomas Muller handed Carlo Ancelotti silverware at the first time of asking, with the Italian joining the German giants as a replacement for Pep Guardiola.
Chilean Vidal broke the deadlock after following up on his own rebound before Muller turned the ball home late into the second half.
Dortmund, bidding for a hat-trick of Supercup wins over Bayern, made the brighter start and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang squandered a good early chance when he took advantage of a misunderstanding between Philipp Lahm and Hummels to break through, but he waited too long to shoot and Javi Martinez recovered ground to make an important deflection.
Dortmund continued to press in the second half and Felix Passlack tested Manuel Neuer early on before Bayern raised the tempo and opened the scoring.
Vidal juxtaposed his position with Muller, creating space for another shot which Burki again saved, but this time he showed more composure with the rebound, placing it into the far corner.
With 10 minutes to go, Bayern sealed victory when Muller lost his marker and latched onto Hummels' header from a corner, turning the ball in from close range.
Mario Gotze watched on from the Dortmund bench with coach Thomas Tuchel resisting the temptation to field him against his former club, with first blood in the new German season drawn by the record champions, with their first Supercup win since 2012.
