Whilst the likes of Stephen Asamoah Boateng and Benjamin Kunbour are gnashing their teeth after losing their seat, Prof. Akumfi is basking in joy.
He won the Techiman North seat which was considered a safe seat for the NDC.
Since 1992, the Constituency has consistently voted for the NDC.
Asked what his secret was, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi said he never lost touch with the people.
According to him, he will work hard to encourage the people to come and vote for the NPP’s flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo in the run-off.
Unlike Prof. Akumfi, the Mfantseman MP, Mr. Asamoah Boateng lost his seat to the NDC while the NDC heavy weight, Benjamin Kumbour lost the Lawra/Nandom Constituency to Mr. Ambrose Dery.
Other very popular MPs who lost their seats are Alhaji Abubakar Boniface Saddique, NPP, Salaga, Alhaji Malik Alhassan Yakubu, NPP, Yendi, and Hajia Alima Mahama, Nalerigu/Gambaga.
The rest were the CPP’s Freddie Blay for Elembelle, Kojo Armah of Evalue-Gwira and the NDC’s Lee Ocran for Jomoro.
