The Tamale Teaching Hospital used the Republic Day to render free general medical service to the Dadokpa community, a suburb of the Tamale Metropolis, as part of its public service to the citizenry.
The services rendered included eye screening, dental screening, malaria and general medical screening for all forms of diseases, and those found with serious medical complications were referred to the hospital for further treatment.
Mr. Gabriel Nii Ankrah, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Hospital, told the GNA that the hospital would with effect from this year, render similar free services to other communities in the metropolis as part of its public service to the people.
He said a total of 15 doctors, 15 nurses, three pharmacists and five laboratory technicians attended to the people in the community.
Mr. Ankrah said the hospital screened about 500 people at the end of the day, adding that, free medication was given to some individuals.
He expressed gratitude about the response of the people to the exercise, which he said was very encouraging, and commended the medical term for the commitment.
The PRO said the hospital expressed the hope to improve on the exercise in the coming years, to make it more effective and to reach out to more people than it did this year.
