Tema Secondary School has emerged winner of the Zoomlion Foundation debate held last Friday.
The theme of the debate was on recycling activities was aimed at creating awareness on recycling of waste.
The motion for the dabate was,”Waste is a resource, do you agree?”
The contest was staged among seven Senior High Schools in the Greater Accra Region namely, Accra Academy, West Africa Senior High School, Nungua Senior High School, Odorgonno Senior High School, Ghanata Senior High School, Fafraha Senior High School and Tema Senior High School – all member schools of the Zoomlion Ambassadors Club.
The Zoomlion Ambassadors Club is established to create awareness on sanitation among member schools of the Senior High School in Ghana.
In a speech read on her behalf, Mrs. Florence Larbi, who is Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, stated that it was important to discuss recycling because it would promote attitudinal change towards the handling of waste in schools and at public places.
Thomas Narh Korley added that improvement of sanitation requires effort of all key stakeholder hence the value of awareness creation and sensitisation cannot be underestimated.
At the end of the debate Tema Senior High school emerged winners, whilst Odorgonno Senior High School and Ghanata Senior High School were 1st and 2nd runners up respectively.
Accra Academy came fourth.
The wining school received a plaque, books and dustbins.
