Ghanaian tertiary students have been urged to take advantage of programmes that would make them competitive in the global market. Mr. Winfred Kwamivi of the Leicester University, UK, who gave the advice on Monday said: “Today’s global business environment is more competitive, complex, dynamic and ever-increasing than it has been in decades. Change is occurring simultaneously which requires individuals, leaders and managers to be alert to new data and strategies.” Mr Kwamivi is the Interim chairman of the Planning Committee of Leicester’s first informal interaction and cocktail to bring students in Ghana together and harness resources. He added that the school was committed to training professionals to meet the demands of the job market. “The training gives you the necessary tool to analyse all the tough decision-making processes as an individual and a manager as a whole.” Mr Kwamivi noted that the forum, to be institutionalized, would be used as an informal avenue for sharing ideas, networking as well as having fun. Dr Jacob Ashong, Director and Higher Education Consultant, noted that Leicester had been in West Africa for over a decade and had been providing quality education. He said there were over 800 students scattered across the country through the distance learning programme of the university.
