The final countdown to Adom Praiz 2011 has begun, with the headline artiste, Ron “Kweku” Kenoly, arriving in Ghana Wednesday afternoon. Preparation towards the Saturday August 27 event is now in overdrive as the event organizers, Adom FM, race against time to put together the biggest gospel show ever in Ghana. With the 2010 edition setting the benchmark for international concerts in Ghana, the organizers have their work cut out for them to surpass the previous year’s achievement. Artisans, service providers, set designers and production crew are frantically putting the Dome at the Accra International Conference Center to the highest standard to welcome US gospel icon, Dr. Ron Kenoly to Ghana on his second official trip to this country. Adom Praiz 2011, which will feature nearly all the big names in Ghanaian gospel music, is the third in an annual gospel fiesta powered by Adom 106.3 FM to celebrate God’s blessings and honour Him for His faithfulness. Expectations are high. The event organizers, Adom 106.3FM, promised the nation “something special” after the highly successful Adom Praiz 2010. Indications so far prove that the business unit has its finger firmly on the pulse of the gospel entertainment package. The public is getting excited while the organizers are feeling the weight of the expectation. “The hype is overwhelming and the buzz is infectious”, says the Chief Operating Officer of the Adom Division of the Multimedia Group, Mr. Klaus vonBackustein. But Von insists Adom FM is up to the challenge. “We delivered 2009; we went international in 2010 and the whole country was in awe with our performance. My team is more than equal to the challenge to go several notches higher this year.” Activities at the Dome in preparation towards August 27 seem to form the basis of confidence being exhibited by the Adom team. From the stage, through interior décor, to security, the Dome looks more than ready to host Ron Kenoly and the legion of local gospel artistes for the big concert. The performance of Ron Kenoly will be the highlight of a night that is billed to signal the intent of the Adom FM business unit to consolidate its position as the entertainment radio station in the country. As a gospel musician, Ron Kenoly is also a celebrated worship leader, singer and songwriter. He began working in full time ministry in 1985 when he started out as a worship leader at Jubilee Christian Center in San Jose, California. Not long after that, in 1987, he was ordained and installed as Music Pastor. The title sponsor of Adom Praiz 2011 is telecom giants, Airtel. The local artiste line-up for August 27 is made up of Tagoe Sisters, Stella Seal, Mary Ghansah, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Cindy Thompson, Soul Winners, Philipa Baafi, Nii Okai and Yaw Sarpong.
